NEFERTITI is a project rooted in a radical sculptural operation, granting the object a strong formal autonomy. Unlike glass lamps or functional objects whose purpose is immediately declared, NEFERTITI remains deliberately enigmatic. When switched off, it stands as a self-contained sculpture, not revealing its function.
Only when illuminated does it disclose its nature—light adds a new layer, producing a peculiar sense of estrangement where one cannot quite define what one is looking at. In this sense, NEFERTITI is almost accidentally a lamp - it is, above all, a sculpture.
Conceived as a flexible modular element, NEFERTITI can be assembled in multiple configurations array, totem, wall, shelf, or freestanding object. Magnetic devices are embedded within its body, while a steel plate in the same colour allows for appliqué compositions based on different motifs or matrices. The design explores a dialectic between two languages: the formal precision of Minimal Art and the vibrancy of Pop Art and culture. This collision creates a paradoxical interplay between permanence and contingency, between stillness and playfulness. As a result, the object can appear both abstract and evocative, silent and expressive—an open field for projection and interpretation.
NEFERTITI challenges the basic truth of perception. It seeks to suspend certainty, to evoke a realm that feels simultaneously metaphysical and ironic. The lamp consciously deceives the eye: the light source is hidden, the colour shifts suggest a subtraction from a solid form, and what appears as a volume reveals itself, perhaps, to be a thin metal sheet. Even its material nature is ambiguous—the V-cut technique enables edges impossible with standard bending, while glossy car paint conceals the true identity of the metal beneath. The interplay between rigorous geometry and playful colour, between sculpture and function, defines NEFERTITI as a mysterious object open to multiple interpretations. It is finite yet open-ended, self-referential yet full of reminiscence.
